Report: PSG now set to make 'substantial' bid to sign £78m player, after claims Liverpool are interested

PSG are reportedly set to make a ‘substantial’ bid to sign Leny Yoro, who Liverpool are also chasing this January.

The 18-year-old defender has been one of the breakout talents in Europe this season, with Yoro establishing himself as a regular for LOSC Lille and attracting some major interest in recent weeks.

Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Yoro, who with a valuation of £78m could become one of the most expensive French signings of all time.

And according to L’Equipe, PSG could now make a major move in the coming days to sign Yoro, even with Lille publically stating that the teenage defender isn’t for sale.

With Liverpool themselves eager to sign a young centre-back, PSG’s last-minute move for Yoro could be a massive blow for Jurgen Klopp’s upcoming transfer plans for the summer.

Indeed, Yoro has shown this season that he is a future superstar in the making, and Liverpool missing out on another talented teenager won’t come across well with supporters this January.

Liverpool’s need for a young central defender to partner Ibrahima Konate in the long-term is clear for everybody to see, with Yoro a perfect candidate for such a role.

Yet with PSG now set to flex their financial muscle in a big way this January, Liverpool look set to miss out on the signing of Yoro, which could be a huge problem for the Reds.

As we know, Yoro is arguably the outstanding teenage defender in Europe this season, and Liverpool would have been an ideal club for the 18-year-old to join this year.

However, with PSG looking to make a splash in the market, all signs now point towards Yoro heading to the French capital, and Liverpool could be left with egg on their face.
